Malpractice question??
I was given a Tb test by a nurse before a pregnancy and the doctor specifically said to do the pregnancy test first. The nurse realized she forgot to do the test and tested me positive after. I have read that doctors like you to wait to do the TB test while pregnant because they do not know the effects of the test on the fetus. Then after that the doctor forced me to have my husband come in the room and tell him everything when I said no! I wanted to tell him everything my self first! She still told him when I said no. She also said my husband would loose his rank and we would be sued if he did not comwe in the room. Isn’t this breaking the HIPAA law?
You said “She also said my husband would loose his rank “, I’m assuming your a military family seeing a military doctor? I don’t know all the differences, but I do know that in the military the rules are different than they are for civilians, including their families, which may apply to the HIPAA practice. The only way this could be malpractice thought is if you are pregnant, something happens to the baby because of the mistake, then you’d have to prove it. Otherwise it’s just a breach of confidentiality.
