How do I file a HIPAA claim if my rights were violated?

My job found out I was pregnant (I work as a paramedic) and tried to tell me I was a liability. My Dr was saying it was ok for me to still work. I had to go see their “fit for duty” physician. I had never signed anything to release my medical records to anyone. After my visit, this physician sends my medical report to someone who wasn’t even my direct boss. She then sends it to my boss, who also send it to my union Representative. This has information such as my weight, my exam findings and also about my history (I guess I saw this same guy when I was in a car accident 7 years ago and having back pain, my insurance company made me go and see this man) in this report which that information is irrelevant. I have tried to call lawyers who tell me to prove HIPAA violation is almost impossible. I think I have a strong case I just do not know how or where to file a claim against all of these people. Please help!!!

No violation. You went to a company doctor to see if you were fit for duty. Your employment contract, your agreement to see the company’s doctor by actually going and when you registered at that doctor’s office are your consents.

All the information pertains to your job for fitness of duty and you are throwing a stink about working which directly involves others to determine your fitness for duty.

Like it or not but you have chosen a profession where your back’s fitness and your ability to continue to do your job is a concern especially for the safety of the patients and your partner.
