Employee Hipaa Form
employee hipaa form
Determining if something is a “Hipaa” violation?
I work for a company that recently sent out health insurance and life insurance forms to it’s employees. Part of the form pertained to address and beneficiaries information. I listed a woman that I was engaged to at the time as my beneficiary. My manager was fully aware of the relationship. When the representative from the corporate office discovered our addresses where the same she took our forms to the human resources reresentative and reported that we were in a relationship, I was immediately terminated. Was thier using my information from health and life insurance forms a HIPAA violation?
I was fired because I married a fellow employee. The manager knew we were getting married and said no problem as long as there are no complaints of favoritism but when home office found out they said it was a problem and fired me.
No it was not a violation as that only covers medical professionals. Sounds like your company has a policy about spouses working together. Sorry but they did nothing wrong in this scenario.
