How long should a urine drug test take to get results?
I took a pre-employment drug test back on Monday September September 27th. They originally said that they couldn’t find the test and told my employer that I hadn’t taken it. I provided them the “chain of custody number” and they still couldn’t find it. Then they said they did find it after providing them with my copy of the paper but that it didn’t make it to their lab until September 30th. Which is an abnormally long time to get to the lab according to what I have learned. Anyways, today is October 8th and I still haven’t got the results back. Is this even possible to take over a week to urine test results, that I thought only take 1 to 2 days to process? Or is it more likely that they really did lose the test, know that they violated the HIPAA law and don;t want to tell me or the employer? Any help would be greatly appreciated and I will give 10 points for the best answer!! Thanks!
A urine drug test only takes a few minutes to perform. The time to transport and process the specimen will vary though. I would estimate that it would take 1-2 days at most to process the specimen. This is a very long time to wait as you know. I suspect they may have lost the test, but I am not sure why they would not just tell you this and your employer.
