Will my husband’s group health plan cover my pregnancy?
My husband will sign up for a group plan with his job in January and he plans to include me. We haven’t had insurance in over 1 year. The problem is, I just found out I’m pregnant. I haven’t been to the doctor yet. I was told by some people that group plans will cover me so long as I haven’t been to the doctor and that I should tell the insurance company that I didn’t know I was pregnant after they sign me up. Therefore, my pregnancy wouldn’t be considered pre-existing. Would that work?
Also, does anyone have a link to the HIPAA of 1996 that explains in detail about the pregnancy rules? I’ve tried many websites but none have complete explanation. Thank you.
I would look more into the specific policy alot of group plans don’t consider pregnancy a pre existing condition.
