HIPAA- I recently learned that a Nurse that handles Medical Leave through my employer and whom I was assigned?
to during my medical leave, went on medical leave herself but was working from home, and was able to receive and review my medical records from her home. Is this a violation of the HIPAA act?
No, not if she’s on a secured network and everything is password protected. If she transported any documents to and from her home, they were required to be locked up. Doctors frequently access patient files from their homes now.
