If a job orders a background check can they see the results of a previous, unrelated psychiatric evaluation?
I was speaking to my mother about the psychiatric evaluation that is planned for Tuesday morning. She does not want me to go through with it due to a paranoia that a job may order a background check on me.
Under confidentiality laws of the U.S. are they allowed to see the results of a psychiatric evaluation if it is unrelated, not ordered by court or anything that would be considered an exemption under HIPAA?
The job does not require for me to have a psych eval. I am getting a psych eval because my new therapist requires it before she can start treating me. I am asking if a job who runs a background check later in my life can find out the results of the psych eval IF they DO NOT order the psychiatric evaluation.
yes they can. I do not like that but the people that are dong the hiring are paying for the background check.
