Health Insurance ??
We have Medcost Preferred through our employer in NC.How do I find out if they are HIPAA regulated?Can’t get anyone to tell me from insurance company, called NC commisioners office and was told it was a 3rd party that handled the insurance so it was out of their jurisdiction and was told to call Labor Board that they handled the company.Did that and he said to find out if the insurance is HIPAA regulated.
I looked at their site and they are a third party administrator. They do not actually pay the claims. They just do the re-pricing. Do you have anything from the employer stating who the insurance company actually is-that is who actually pays the claims? That is who you need to ask about HIPAA. You should be able to get that info from Med-Cost. (After all they should know who they have to send the repriced claims to!)
