MY 22 year old daughter’s privacy invaded by dr’s office?

HOW DO WE DEAL WITH THIS SITUATION? My daughter is 22 years old. My husband received a message on his cell phone regarding a rx she is supposedly taking. Her HIPAA form that she signed at the doctor’s office and her chart does not have her dad’s number any where on that chart. Yet they told her that we made the change (they lied to get themselves out of it). She, naturally, was furious and considered this an invasion of her privacy. They denied they left the message when I called…and told me different versions of what they told her when she called them. She is a college student living at home..She is not very happy with the situation..How do we deal with this

She needs to contact HIPAA right away. It was an invasion of her privacy. Did your husband save the message?? I hope he did, because that is good evidence against them. Keep a log of every person you talk to and everything that is said. But she really needs to call them and explain the situation. They will tell her what she needs to do from there.

And she should switch to a different doctor’s office.
