how does hipaa affect the MT?
I am trying to find the specific ways an MTs and physicians are required to comply with HIPAA.

HIPAA has five “titles” – it’s basically about protection of an individual’s medical information.
Title I protects the individual’s right to healthcare coverage when changing jobs and protects denial of coverage with a new employer because of preexisting conditions.
Title II is about privacy and security. Medical privacy rights on protected health info. Ensuring confidentiality and security of electronic health information and setting standards for electronic signatures.
Titles III, IV, and V will address health provisions, group health care requirements, and revenue offsets.
How it affects an MT is that you need to protect any medical information that you have access to. For example, if your computer is in an area where others can see your screen, you need to have a privacy screen on your computer.
