My Dentist died – Transfer of records ?
This is in the US and I think covered by HIPAA.
My dentist died late last year. Just got a letter saying his family has sold the practice and already transferred all the records to another dentist.
I want my records back – what are my rights, what’s HIPAA say about this ?
Thank you.
you should be able to request your records from the new dentist who has acquired the practice. stop by the office and talk to the receptionist. i know at the office i worked at all you have to do it sign a release form and they will make a copy of the records for you to take, or they can fax them to another dentists office.
