According to the HIPAA Law, can I talk about my friends(a co-worker) health to other concerned co-workers? ?
A supervisor told me I could not discuss her health to other co-workers because of this law. I understand that there is no policy in our handbook about this.
Technically, the HIPAA law is geared towards health care providers and hospitals. It mandates how private health information is stored and who it can be released to. Unless you work at a doctor’s office and the co-worker is a patient I don’t see how that applies.
