Can i be fired over this? HIPAA?
I was fired today for the reason of hipaa, they said i told info on a pt.,, put on facebook they was in the hospital and what was wrong with them! the thing is the Pt is my 2 year old son!! and i was off the clock on my on time. please help me with this info. and i need to know what site it came from and everything thank you alot for your help..
No, you weren’t. This has nothing to do with HIPPA. The hospital, or its staff, did not reveal why your son was in the hospital and what was wrong with him.
You are an “at will employee”. You can be fired for any reason or for no reason at all just as you are free to quit your job any time no explanation needed. Your boss can fire you just because he didn’t like the color of your shoes.
As for you. Quit gossiping, stay off of Facebook, and learn to mind your own business. Some things should be kept private.
