Hipaa Manager

hipaa manager

if the hipaa law applies to office personel discussing office problems with family and friends?

office manager knows of issues within the office regarding employees/raises/work performances etc-she discusses the situations with her family and also friends that have nothing to do with the office-she gets their advise and sometimes applies it to whatever the situation is-not sure if this is under the hipaa rule or a medical ethic problem

HIPAA protect private medical information. No law covers employment information. It may be unethical (although in a business sense, this has nothing to do with medical ethics) to discuss some issues outside the work environment, but it is certainly not illegal, nor does it ever involve HIPAA.
