what info can a medical review officer gather about a prescription drug that caused a pos drug test result?

Legally, what is the depth of information that a medical review officer (MRO) can gather about a prescription drug that caused a positive result on a drug screen? Can any of this information be reported to an employer? Do normal hipaa regulations still apply to PHI? I have one asking about the DR who prescribed it, when it has been filled, where I fill it at, why it was prescribed, when / how often I take the prescribed med. It seems like this is a violation of privacy.

Please help… sources appreciated!

If they drug showed up on your drug screen and the MRO does not have enough information to determine that the drug what prescribed for you and is being used at the prescribed dose then you will have failed the drug screen and will not get he job and the drug screen will be reported back to the employer as a fail. If you don’t want to fail the screen give the information needed to confirm your use, this does not go to the employer only that you passed.
