3 Years of Unbearable Harrassment from His Ex?

3 1/2 years I have sat back and let my boyfriends ex run around town talking me down like a piece of crap. I haven’t cared, I don’t operate that way. She has friends here and there and has used them to obtain information on me. A local police officer got her address from me simply by running my license plate. She pulled up my father’s obituary, got information on my family. Had a girlfriend in the Clerk’s Office pull divorce decrees, public records. Recently, she has been running around town speaking of a medical procedure I had done when I was 13 years old. Apparantly, she now has access to my medical records. I have opened up an investigation with the hospital as well as the Department of Health..possibly a HIPAA violation. How in the hell do I stop this harrassement? I have done nothing wrong and I am not going to be punished because her boyfriend moved on.
Sorry, I meant she had a police officer get MY address for her.

All you can do is report any alleged violations of private records. If she does have access to your medical records (are you sure this isn’t just from speaking with someone who knew?), then that is something somebody can be charged with. If you have proof she had an officer run your license plates, he can be severely disciplined, but on the other hand, again, simply asking someone or googling you could have provided her with your address.

Public records in the Clerk’s office are just that, public. Anyone can legally access them.

You can’t do anything about somebody bad mouthing you. After 3 1/2 yrs, I would think anybody that mattered to you would understand she has serious mental issues to keep this up. In a small town, her group of ‘friends’ will quickly run out. In a large city, only a tiny portion will even know both of you.

This isn’t unbearable. Just take the high road and ignore her, like we tell our kids when others call them names. I suspect you HAVEN’T been ignoring her, which makes her feel like she is winning. If you ignore her, she’ll eventually get bored and give up. Every time you react, you’re giving her fuel.
