US question; Does HIPAA apply to psychiatrist or psychologist – patient privilege?
This question is for US only:
Does HIPAA protect confidentiality between patient/pscychiatrist and patient/psychologist? Just as there is confidentiality protection between normal doctor and patient?
Thanks!
Yes, it does apply. You would have to sign a waiver for any privileged information that exists between your psychiatrist/psychologist to be ‘open’.
