hipaa ruling
under the hipaa rule how can personal health information be used for unrelated healthcare?
The Hippa law prohibits ANYONE from even mentioning that you were even at a doctor’s office, hospital or laboratory. NO information could be used for any other purpose other than billing your insurance and telling the doctor YOU actually signed a release of information to get the results of any tests, etc.
If you believe that someone has violated your privacy, call the administrator of the facility and speak directly with them regarding this matter. You will need viable proof of the violation and whoever is involved will most likely be fired.
