Should social workers be allowed to release information about abusers and molesters to future employers?
Under the HIPAA regulations, this information is confidential. Do you believe that social workers, therapist and others in similar positions, should be allowed to disclose this information without client consent to perspective employers? I am talking about the strides they have made in therapy sessions and treatment. This would allow the employer to know if the c;ient is on the right track to not committing these crimes again. Curious to see what everyone thinks.
I am asking about reporting the progress these individuals have made in therapy. Using this type of reporting in assiting the indiviual secure gainful employment. I know this information is available through background checks. These background checks only release the fact that a crime was committed, they do not show the help these individuals have received. I thinking it is important for the public to know that these individuals are being rehabed. I think it would help them secure employment. This is what I am asking.
Hell, no. We have the rule of law in this country, onlyi f you are convicted of that crime, should i impact your employment. Certainly not some screwball “case worker” in social services opinion, much less a “therapist”
Imagine the fallout form such “opinions’ from average people; especially one sthat have no higher standard to answer to.
Why stop there, if a “therapist” thinks some one may steal, or beat their wife (or husband) , or maybe scoff at traffic laws, where would it stop, if someone just suspected something?
