Victim of HIPAA what can I do?
i had someone come up to me and congratulate me on a being pregnant. I am very early in my pregnancy and have had a past with complications so did not want anyone to know until I was showing.
This person knew b/c her sister worked at a pharmacy and she filled my prescription for prenatal vitamin.
What can I do? file a report? hire a lawyer? get her fired?
I did not even really know this person who came up to me. What do I do?
the pharmacist sister asked me if I was and I said no twice and she said ” don’t lie my sister filled your prescription. and then she asked me about another girl b/c she had gotten the same prescription from her sister…. ugh.
You are right, it is a direct violation of HIPPA. However how are you going to prove who did it? That is going to be your biggest obstacle.
