Is this a HIPAA violation?
Can a summons for small claims court for a medical bill be served to your job with a detailed list of medical expenses attached such as drugs given and supplies used? The summons was handled by several individuals before it reached the one intended. Should it have been delivered to the home address with this information?
HIPPA requires the hospital to keep your records confidential. Once they leave the hospital, HIPPA no longer applies.
The details they are releasing have nothing to do with your health care, they are required to show the court how much you owe and why.
