Laws or FCC regulations pertaining to giving out residence name when dispatching an emergency call?
I work for a 9-1-1 center in North Carolina. I have been told different things when it comes to giving out resident names over the air on medical calls. Does anyone know of any direct links to find out if it’s ok, and if so, when it is ok. I am interested in finding out pertaining to HIPAA laws and FCC regulations.
My center does not have anything in place, nor does the county policies. I am trying to obtain links for info backing what the proper procedure is so that a policy can be put in place.
Get the policy, in writing, from the county attorney.
