What is required if an employee doesn’t follow the privacy policy?

I am doing a research paper and I’m stumped on a question about what is required if an employee in the medical office doesn’t follow the privacy policy (HIPAA). Can anyone help me?

By employee I gather you are talking about someone who works there, but is not a nurse, doctor or assistant.

Privacy act is just that, it’s private and no one is allowed to get any info about you to be shared by others except those in the medical field.

If you change doctors then all your records are sent to your new doctor in order that he/she knows how you have been treated along with the whys and fours so they may get some insight about you. That doesn’t come under the privacy act.
