Is London the new New York?
Thanks to Sarbanes-Oxley, London has overtaken New York in initial public offerings. Though income-taxes may be higher in the UK, corporate taxes are lower and the regulatory environment will be MUCH friendlier to businesses after Obama’s FinReg bill starts to be enforced. And that of course says nothing about the diminished standing of the USD relative to the AUD, CAD and GBP.
Nah, I’d say it’s London being London again. Back in the times before New York became a financial center (around the early 20th century), London in the days of ye olde British Empire was (and still is) a very big financial/business center
So, its come full circle that business would once more be happening in London, but that’s just my 2 cents…
