Who does Sarbanes-Oxley impact?
It is supposed to make businesses more
accountable to their shareholders and the
Securities and Exchange Commission.
However, it adds a LOT of paperwork
and that costs labor which costs money
which is passed on to the consumer,
i.e. YOU.
So, the question is does it save more
money by preventing crime than it costs
in labor to maintain.
The prevailing wisdom is that it costs
more than its worth.
That is, you end up paying more for things
than you need to to preserve information
that nobody reads and doesn’t actually
stop people from doing bad accounting.
