How much personal info is an employer allowed to have?

MY daughter was injured & went to the ER. Now, her employer is giving her trouble saying her excuse doesn’t include her Social Security number, birth date, etc. and therefore is not acceptable. I need to know, by HIPAA standards, can the doctor even release this info on the work release to an employer?

the employer should already have these answers on file as they are or should have been on the employees application for employment to begin with.. A doctor CANNOT release the answer to these questions w/o written consent from the patient. sounds like the employer is just trying t avoid paying work related medical expenses..
