Has anyone been able to obtain their own employee records from Verizon without a subpoena?

I do plaintiff’s personal injury for a law firm. Applied with HIPAA authorization to Verizon for employee records. Got a response that it can only be done via subpoena. My boss seems to think that I should write Verizon and request the records pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). I don’t think that applies to Verizon; they’re not a governmental agency. But, I would imagine that employees are entitled to their employee records. Has anyone obtained employee records from Verizon without a subpoena and, if so, how did you accomplisth this?

wow – some law firm doesn’t even know how to or isn’t willing to issue subpoenas in support of their clients.
