Is this a HIPAA Violation?
My husband got a text last night from a nurse in the ER that said..”your uncle is here, and I am his nurse” Now we do not talk to the Uncle on a regular basis, so I am sure that he did not give permission……..
YES
I don’t know the jest of the rules, but getting a text message from an ER nurse is a HUGE mistake on her part!
If the uncle wanted you to know he was there, then she should have called you not sent a text message.
